I have just recently been informed of the sudden passing of an old friend and member of our medical family !!
Gillis, John Dan
Margaree Forks, passed away peacefully, Monday, April 13, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. He was born Jan. 27, 1942 to parents James and Theresa (Tompkins) Gillis, Margaree Forks. He spent the early part of his life as Physician Aide in the Armed Forces, after retiring as a Warrant Officer in the 1980’s he worked in the construction industry. John Dan enjoyed going to card plays, was good at telling stories and liked to play jokes on his friends. He is survived by son Brad (Jennifer) and the light in his eyes, twin grandchildren Chris and Emma. Also survived by siblings, Harold, Jean, Stewart (May), Kay (Werner) Ruthard, Doug (Isabel), Pat (Wayne) Harley, Ken (Carla), Rosemary (Keith) Bowers , Greg (Janet) and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Roberta Louise (MacKay), Brother Graham and Gerald (in infancy), sister in law Gerry and brother in law Peter Casey.
Visitation will be Friday, April 17, 2015 at St. Michael’s Parish Hall, East Margaree from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral will be Saturday at St Michael’s Church, East Margaree at 11 am with Father Barrett Clare-Johnson officiating, interment to follow at a later date. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory of the late John Dan Gillis may be made to ICMH Charitable Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association. It is with sadness that we advise the passing of CWO (Retd) John Quevillon in Barrie, ON, on Thursday, May 14, 2015 atJohn Quevillon the age of 78 with his wife of fifty-eight years by his side. Thirty-eight years service in the Canadian military, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer in Borden, Ontario in 1992. Loving father to Angela (John) and Robert (Linda). Cherished grandfather of Tyanna (Mathieau), Ashley (William), and Erinn (David). Great grandfather of Maxime, Tanner, Sophie and Jameson. Dear brother to Carmel (Henriette), Gilles (Francois), Marjel (Denise), Alain and Odette (the late Richard).
