  • Well, it's high time I checked in! I completed the two-week Battlefield tour, covering Salisbury, Plymouth, Brighton in the UK, Dieppe France, Arras, Ypres, Belgium, Kalkar Germany and Amsterdam Holland. That was in August 2017. Went on to Fort Henry Harrison in Helena MT, Hill AFB Utah, and Henderson Nevada. Twice to Las Vegas...February and June! I also attended numerous events in Camp Wainwright, Whitecourt, Red Deer and Calgary. July 30th I'm off to Ottawa, Kingston and Toronto with my son, Andrew - returning to Edmonton on the 7th of August. If that hasn't got you breathless...Aug 10-13 is the "Return to the Wild" campout with the RCR Association here in Alberta! What a whirlwind of a year!

  • Still here...just bidding my time! Tons of things going on within the Veteran community here and I'm preparing for a Battlefield Tour with the Essex and Kent Scottish in August. Just getting the last minute details taken care of for my passport...

  • Where does the time go? November 2016 already and so much has come and gone! It's been a good year, health wise, and my home situation has definitely improved! I've been extremely active with the RCR Association and Quilts of Valour Canada, but I've managed to find time to do service for the Essex and Kent Scottish Assn as well! I became a grandfather of adorable twin girls and a good looking young boy now that my son and daughter-in-law have taken the huge leap of adopting. Back in April I spent time in Calgary with the Calgary Highlanders Association and my good friend, Keith Davis convinced me to join the FSSF Association (Devil's Brigade) as an Associate. I'll be spending some time with my Brothers in the Edmonton Branch of the PPCLI Association before Christmas; Ortona Day Dinner with the RCR's, and this coming August I'm off to Europe for a ten day battlefield tour. I'm sure I missed out a number of things, but granted to say, I'm keeping very, very busy!

  • No, I didn't look much like an Aboriginal but I did put on a mean campfire. My campfire blanket must of weighed 80 lbs by the time I gave it to my oldest boy as a Christmas gift. He made it to Chief Scout and always wanted it...I can't believe he's 42 years of age now! He served with the Lord Strathcona Horse Regiment in Bosnia and is now a town councillor in Fox Creek and successful Oilfield Safety Officer.

  • Scouting was a huge part of my life while I was still serving. In Edmonton we had the 147th Griesbach and 148th Lancaster Park Groups. It was a great time to do scouting, especially with the support of the Military Community.

  • Seriously Willy? OK...Mind jog coming up...Rick Conrad was Area 2 Commissioner. I was on his service team with Ed Feihle. I was with the 147th Griesbach Scout Group, having served in Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers, Rovers and Group Committee. My wife, Tracy was Group Chair for a while and on the Service Team as well. I trained leaders for 10 years as  Provincial Level III Trainer. We crossed paths ALOT.

  • John:  are you away for couple of months, or  fighting city hall re; tax increase?   My mind must be gone...where , when did we partner up on Scouting???
