  • Hi Mike

Sorry to hear about Al. Did not know. Yes, he was a great guy.

Now that you mention it, I believe we were on the same ULQ6 course, along with the civies and John Kruyer and others.

I was at FMG and Brad Amirault was the P1 in charge along with the shyster Larry Lee etc etc

Join in 68 and got out in 89 and went with CPF program with Irving in St. John. Returned to PEI in 92 and been here ever since. Fully retired now, or try to be  haha

My health is pretty good still, except for knees (must be from working on top of the mast all the time)  hahaand hearing not to good either (constant ringing in both ears. Wearing earphones too long I guess. Great to hear from you. Call me when you in PEI next time. Will hoist a few for old time sakes.

  • Hi there Spud! Yes, I do believe we sailed on "different ships together". I'm pretty much the same as you ... joined in '69 as a sparker and after my TG2's course took the TSQ .09 EW course then off to commission Athabaskan as an EWOP in Sep 72. Never did get to see the inside of the CCR again. LOL I could be wrong but I think we were in the FS at the same time and perhaps did the ULQ6 course together. Do you remember being on that course with a couple of civies from the radio shop ... Dave Tarr and John Something or other. Did you once work at FMG? I recall you being quiet and smart. I was quiet and stupid. LOL I got out in '97 from MARCOMHQ. Living in the valley near Greenwood now surrounded by zoomies. I see you are back  on the 'red mud" we have friends over there in Miscouche and in Grand River but haven't been over in awhile. My health hasn't been so good the last few years. Knees are shot and going to see a cardiologist next week. I suppose you heard about Al Strang passing away a month or so ago. Too bad, Good fella Al was. Nice hearing from you. Stay out of trouble. Mike

  • Hey David: sorry no, I was never on the Athaby. I was a Hull Tech. My last ship was the Toronto. Cheers Joe
