I have been a member for many years and have just changed my email address. I am also a member of CFMS and my parent service was non other then the Royal Canadian Navy. joined in July 1953, and retired after serving thirty and a half years Dec.31, 1983.
Hi Gordon , The Barber Pole Escot is familiar , I think we were the C 3 Escort , The Saskatchewan was the destroyer in charge and the Skeena was second in command ,In the spring of 1944 we had to go in for refit in Halifax for something and I was able to get a couple weeks leave when I returned to Halifax my ship was gone ,the Skeena was called to the English Channel for something important . I was then put on the Ille De France sent back over to Niobe Scotland to rejoin ship , in the meantime the Skeena and another destroyer had gotten into quite a hassle in the channel , shot up some as I heard , they needed six volunteers very bad for The 29th MTB's so I signed up , the rest is history . lol Thanks for the nice words Gordon
