Hello and thank you for the welcome. I am officially a "Greenie" joining in 78 after the passing of the RCN but still sailing under the White Ensigne, and leaving in 2003 before the RCN came back into being. I just look OLD and Salty. Again thanks for the welcome.
Gord, thanks for the welcome message. Have been out of touch for awhile with the RCN but time to get back. I was just reading your post about the volunteer service medal and I agree with you 110 %. Unfortunately it does fall on deaf ears. Take care.
Hello Gordon, Many thanks for your kind welcome. I had been quite slack in paying attention to the Veterans of Canada web pages, but decided to send that short blog about the KGVI memorial in 1952 and since then have received several emails.
I joined RCN in 51 actually hoping to go to Korea but instead ended up as a CS rate and went to several northern drafts, Churchill, Frobisher Bay, Aklavik etc. in 60s I sailed in 9th squadron, Cap de la Madeleine, La Hulloise, Lauzon, etc, as well as a short tour in RN submarine Auriga. As unification approached I did a year with the 22nd Regiment at La Citadelle, Quebec City and then did the Baltic trip in St Laurent.
I was Ops Chief in Masset, BC when I pulled the plug in 73. C'est la vie.
Now in my really lazy days, I am mostly underfoot here in Kanata near Ottawa.

Hi Gordon -
Yes, I knew Buck Rogers - we were in CNAG together.
A great lad and a great loss.
