Hi Paul, I was in Damascus (UNDOF HQ's) April 79 to October 79 with 73 Sig Trp. Used to make weekly inspections to AUSBATT, QUINETRA, TIBERIUS and UNEF Camp in Egypt. When were you in Quebec House? Allan Waddy
Thanks Paul. Although we were all in buildings with roofs by the time I went in 87; there were still ruined buildings in the camp. Most of them were on the Finnish side (not sure who has that part of the camp now - like us, the Finns are gone). We had a small shack for our Sigs det located beside what had been a mess hall for the Finns. The quarters were big enough that we each had a separate bedroom, a common area and a small area at the rear that stored our fridge, water heater, laundry and shower. That water heater was a constant source of frustration (it was old and propane fired).
While we were at work, we were in bunkers of course. It looked to me like most of the older ones had simply been constructed right over an existing building. I do know that CanLog was extremely proud of the MIR bunker since it was brand new when I was there.
