  • Hi There Sandy, I see you sent me a FRIENDS request. I'm not sure if I know you or not.  Did you recognize me from somewhere? My first posting was 8CU (now 708 Commsqn) Trenton (MACS) from 1965 - 1969, then 1 Sigs Sqn Calgary 1969 -1972, back to Trenton Macs from 1972 -1973, then back to 1 Sigs from 1973 - 1976. Did a UNEFME tour in Cairo in 1974, was posted to 706 Commsqn Borden 1976 - 1981, Did an UNDOF tour in 78-79, then posted to 743 Commsqn Penhold 1981 - 1986, was Regular Force Training Advisor with 749 (Red Deer) Commsqn from 1986 - 1991 (no cost posting), Took my release from the Regs in 1993 and joined the Civil Service as well as transferred to the Reserve Force (749). In the Snivel service, I worked as both and operator and the supervisor of the New Centralized Attendent Service (CAS) Computerized Telephone call centre handling all of the bases in Western Canada except for the Air Force bases.  They decided to opt out.  Had a lot of fun for two years until they closed down Penhold and move the CAS to CFB Calgary.  I went with them and again served as an operator and then Supervisor again (Long story) (So is this).  They closed Calgary in 1996 and I moved back to Red Deer, continued working for 749 as their IS Manager until I hit age 55, in 1997.  They were a little skimpy on granting extensions past 55 at that. That gave me 33 years service and I went to work for a local computer company for five years, 1997 - 2002, at which time, I started my own Internet Security company, which it and I are still going after 9 years. I'll enjoy it until I can not longer work, probably in my 90's. I'll sign this comment with my Business signature block, so you can see more info.  Did you see anything amid my career that you could recognize where we may have crossed paths?  Just curious. Ran out of room here.  Will continue in a new comment.

  • Hey! Dave Mcbride here. Remember the good old days at C.F.S. Carp? Everytime I head out near Constance Bay I remember that house you lived in just past the tracks on the Constance Bay Road, just a couple of houses from where the late Jack Hepburn lived.
  • I remember going through Basic Training with you at 2 Guards Depot Petawawa in 1961/62. Wonder how may of the Old Guys are still around. J (Herb) Muise
